30/08/2009 – Errazuriz, Wild Ferment Chardonnay 2007

Errazuriz, Wild Ferment Chardonnay 2007, Chile
Errazuriz of Chile is one of the country’s leading wine producers and a familiar name on UK wine shelves. After a slightly rocky patch when their wines seemed to lose their edge, they have been back with a bang in the last couple of vintages. This is a terrific Chardonnay, fermented only with yeasts that are growing wild on the grapes and in the vineyard. It has a complex, layered nose with plenty of toasty oak, but also refined apple and melon fruit and a hint of nectarine. On the palate it is full-textured and rich, yet there is a decisive core of freshness and lemony acidity that makes it very savoury too. Long, well-balanced and very classy Chardonnay at a good price. 9.99, Majestic, The Co-operative
