(2015) Soave wines come from the Veneto region in the northeast of Italy, not far from the city of Venice. This is an example made from the typical local grape Garganega, though there may be some Trebbiano or Chardonnay in here too. It's an upmarket expression of Soave from Asda, with a little bit of oak barrel ageing adding a creamy, hazelnut and oatmeal sheen on the nose, and awonderfully juicy and fresh palate of white fruits - apples, melon and all sorts of fresh citrus. The oak ageing also adds a little extra texture too though, so it is quite creamy and has a certain richness as well as that pleasingly fresh and dry finish that all adds to its food-matching appeal.
