(2024) A rosé from Rioja Alavesa, 100% Tempranillo, wirh a relatively deep colour. There's a jammy cherry ripeness to this, plenty of fruit sweetness moving into strawberry. Quite weighty in texture, but balance is good with sufficient acidity to offset the sweet fruit that could otherwise verge on the slightly cloying. No UK retail stockists at time of review.
(2021) I've tasted most vintages of this Riojan pink over the past six years or so and I'd say this is the best yet. 85% Garnacha (Grenache) and 15% Viura from higher altitude vineyards, it is a very pale pink and offers fresh floral notes, a little strawberry and feshly-sliced pear. On the palate 12.5% abv gives it a light, elegant character with very well-balanced acidity.
(2019) Made from old vine Grenache, this is yet another peachy-pink and very pale style, very un-typically Spanish compared to more traditional rosados, and very much about bright fruit aromas and flavours, though dry in the finish. As well as the stone fruits, thre's a touch of passion fruit and elderflower, then the palate is juicy and filled with peach and an apple juice acid freshness. Tasty and has a bit of character.
