(2023) Always a reliable and elegant sparkling wine from a Loire producer under the same ownership as Bollinger Champagne. This is made from 60% Chenin Blanc along with 20% each of Chardonnay and Cabernet Franc. It is aged 24 months in the chalk cellars, and there's 10% reserve wines in the blend. Pale straw-yellow with fine bubbles, pristine, light, fruity aromas, but certainly a touch of biscuity creaminess too. In the mouth it is fresh and driven by citrus and has excellent freshness, though the 12g/l dosage gives a charming, easy-drinking appeal. Also in Majestic at £16.99 at time of review.
(2019) Made from 100% Chenin Blanc, this is a wine made by the traditional method with long secondary fermentation in individual bottles. It pours with fine bubbles, a pale straw colour, and immediately attractive nose; crisp and fruity but with enough creamy character from its time on the lees. In the mouth it's a lovely, easy-drinking style, very fresh and free-flowing with orchard fruits and a zippy lemony acidity that is delicate and summery, with no tartness, into a finely-honed finish.
(2019) 100% Chenin Blanc sparkling wine, made by the traditional method and spending 14 months on the lees, this comes from limestone soils in the Loire Valley. It has fresh but lightly biscuity aromas of peach and ripe apple, a fine mousse, and palate with plenty of dry, apple core acidity and a lemony surge of fruit. The creaminess of the lees does round the flavours out, a touch of toast even, into a long finish with enough dosage to add a sweet edge on the finish.
(2017) This sparkling wine from the Loire Valley is an unusual Blanc de Blancs blend of Chenin and Chardonnay, made by the traditional method. Moderately small bubbles rise through the glass, and it is the fresh apple cut of the Chenin that dominates, before a little custardy infill from the ripe Chardonnay. In the mouth this has loads of flavour and fruit sweetness, though perhaps the mousse could be a little more fine. Tangy, with citrus and quite a vivacious feel, it drinks well and would be a fine aperitif fizz.
(1999) Nutty, nettly nose with very crisp apple fruit. On the palate there is more of the same, but a pleasing autolysis rounds it out and the finish is quite savoury.
