Very early for the thread however i have received two EP offers for a few producers already and also read a good article from William Kelley about the vintage, reds in particular.

Is the Kelley article free to read? Is there anything in the offers that tempts you?
I (and a few others on here) joined the Stannary/Jasper presentation about the 2019 vintage last week and there were plenty of positive noises. The style of both colours sounds great for my palate; whites were compared to a hybrid of 2014 and 2015, for example. Sadly quantities are low and prices will be flat or rise - no Bordeaux-style pandemic reduction.

Nick - there is a brief 2019 vintage overview on youtube by WK worth watching and I think he has written something on F&R.

It is free indeed, on the F+R Vintage report, not long, only a page or so but interesting. I would post the link however i'm not sure if that is against Forum rules.
Henri Boillot's 2019's were the first offer i received, only his Rugiens, Clos Blanc (new domain holding in Pommard) and Clos Mouchere (Which i think is now sold out) tempted me but you can still buy the 2018's for slightly less.
Did they state any vintage comparisons for 2019 Reds?

I think they weren't able to say what vintage 2019 does resemble, but they did say it is fresher than 2018.
They also commented that 2020 is potentially looking better than 2019 for whites, but I think less so for reds - obviously very early though.

I am considering getting some Droin Chablis, several of which are already available here. Has anyone tried any? I am presuming they should be better than 2018

i've bought a few things and have had no issues. If you have instagram, William Kelley uploaded a good video talking about the vintage.
Such a shame that EP tastings most likely won't happen, or certainly not in the same manner as previous ones.

Sadly, i've not tried anything yet.
Did you typo? Neal Martin wasn't able to review Droin 2019 yet, but he did say he thinks they'll be better than their 2018s, which he found underwhelming.

Riper than 2018 perhaps?
Certainly a vintage I’d personally be very wary of buying anything from without tasting first, if for no other reason as to get a general impression of it.
..... and as it seems very unlikely that there will be many if any e-p tastings this season - well no big “free for alls” certainly - I suspect I will buy nothing.

Who mentioned riper than 2018 ? I thought WK said that it was a cross between 2015 and 2017? Think I need to go back and read / watch what he said.

I do think 2017's represent relatively good value.... for Burgundy that is.

Not sure the Burgundian pricing model accommodates big price decreases a la Bdx 2019 and neither do I really see the growers having an incentive to go down that route. If you have significant price drops I think you've also got to open the door to the converse so be careful what you wish for!
Of the prices I've seen so far, increases are notable for their sobriety. Many have stayed flat YoY and most are in the 3-7% range. I've seen one domaine clearly trying to re-position a particular cru, which also saw massively decreased production in 2019, and that's had an 18% hike - but it's one wine in the range and I reckon it'll still sell.

Saying that one producer has marginally cut prices for their 2019. I do my bit for fellow consumers when visiting vineyards by way of demonstrative but gentle head-shaking, lip-pursing, sharp intakes of breathe etc. They mainly smile as the price list is passed across with no signs of improvement.

Possibly not there - but ive heard it mentioned as a “solaire” vintage - potentially riper than 2018 - in several places - and by WK iirc.
2018 is more typical Droin style than 2019 where he picked later than he usually does. I thought his 2018s were extremely good

That is reassuring Jasper. I tried a couple of the 18s and wasn't blown away, but I don't have a lot of experience with Chablis so I am hoping they just need time.
I was surprised how quickly the 19s arrived here. Without seeing any reviews of them so far, and knowing 19 was a lower yielding vintage and often better regarded than 18, I was assuming they would be worth purchasing.
Interesting that he picked later in 19. Usually lower yields mean earlier picking because they ripen earlier.

An interesting article in FT by Jancis. Has a name-dropping feel. There’s some commentary about prices softening. Not sure we’re in Jimmy Cliff territory, myself.
