Aldi Specially Selected Lebanese Red

Described as a Cabernet Sauvignon Blend from the high altitude Bekka Valley. Has "expressive aromas of cherries, rosemary and cloves. On the rich, savoury palate, cherry and blackberry notes meet earthy spices and fine tannins." At the bargain price of £7.99 I picked up a few bottles but just wondering if anyone has tried it yet?

Weird thing is I *know* I have had this at some point, but there is no note in my database, and I have no memory of the wine. It was supplied to me as a sample by Domaine des Tourelles' PR company and i now wonder if it is sitting untasted in a rack somewhere....

Thanks Andrew. Looking forward to trying this. Just hope it's a wee gem as I've often been disappointed by Aldi wines.Maybe I expect too much for the price?
Only from memory as no TN but I thought it was pretty good, especially at that price point Willie, slightly dusty and forward on opening, lots of black fruit but calmed down and, for me, more enjoyable on Day 2 and 3. 14.5% which is pretty high for me but didn't feel that the alcohol was in my face. This wine is part of Aldi's new autumn range and it will be a good food wine at this time of year.

On my list to try following a tip-off from my step-brother. I do quite like some Lebanese wines, even if they generally have very little in common with Musar! ;-)

I have an opened bottle in front of me now. I agree with most of your comments, especially the idea of it improving on day 2 and 3 and also the alcohol which is not noticeable until you look at the label. Since it is undated I wondered if they had a small window of opportunity to export and raided their cellars of new and old wines to create a palatable blend. The tannins are not fine. I think we will buy a few and leave them for a while to see how they develop. Bargain!
