Then your situation is urgent and the only possible prescription is for you to order something straight away. Delay should not be countenanced.

This does look spectacular and, in theory, a bargain if it lives up to the promise. Problem is it is Chinese and though the manufacturer has a good reputation online, and claims to have a UK warehouse, I suspect the support/after sales will be zilch. The three "authorised dealers" for Fiido in the UK each give their business address, and a google map check on each of them shows them to be private houses....

My only piece of advice is to go to an independent bike shop, we went to Biketrax in edinburgh, but there are lots, and they live by being able to beat the internet on initial support and after care. A good shop will let you try before you buy, give you loads of advice for your wants and requirements, and give you a full setup and service when you buy. Its really worth going to an independent shop !

I have to say that round us, half of the local independents are absolute rotters. There are also more freelance bike mechanics on the market - likely I suppose because they don’t like working for said rotters. My last few bikes I’ve bought online and paid someone to set up properly. Got me a better result and avoided having to deal with some curmudgeonly old sod who positively hates the people he (and it’s always a he) sells bicycles to…

ymmv of course, and there are indeed some very wonderful local bike shops.

Went to look at the Halfords folding Crosscity at the weekend and quite liked it. Am thinking the Chinese ones are too risky - or I'm too risk averse - but still no firm decision.
