Forum in mid-upgrade

Do you want reports of errors/bugs yet? Or is that premature?
And would you rather they were posted on the forum or by PM?
Paul it would be **great** if people could take note of bugs/errors but not report them now: the developer is still working on things so I am adding bugs/errors to a file here, but NOT reporting them back to him yet as he is still in the middle of the work. So if you can take a note with as much context as possible (i.e. where you were, what you were doing, what you expected to happen, but what did or did not happen).

George, I don't know at this stage. There's no automatic facility to choose light or dark the way smart-phones do these days.

It is still being worked on and taking longer than I'd hoped to integrate properly with the main site, but I have to say there seems to be a ton of really useful new features here and it is a lot smarter - remembering where you were in any thread if you go back to it, easy preview of posts before submitting, the choice of 'like' icons (I will explore adding more), and much more sophisticated editing facilities. Also a load of useful things for me as administrator which used to be fairly convoluted to acheive, are now much easier. I am looking forward to getting more familiar with it and posting something a bit more comprehensive perhaps.

Yes, although it would expire after an unspecified time, which always causes a 'minor' problem with resurrected threads. Do you know if it's possible for the user to stop them expiring?

Doubtful, it's stored in the database I guess and having it go back too far would probably slow the whole forum down. Either that or its cookie based, and it's probably just the cookie expiring/refreshing - as it should. You're getting too used to luxurious features Mark!

Interestingly the "remembering" feature has always been there - at least it worked for me anyway!
Every thread I open (just clicking on it) opens from post 1, even this thread, despite my having already accessed it when logged into this new forum previously.
The old forum would open on post 1 for me if I clicked the title, but on 'first new post' if I clicked on the tiny dot that used to appear just left of the thread title.
That dot seems to have disappeared in this iteration, so I've no idea how to open a thread at the 'last point accessed'.

Instead of the blue dot, click on the bold blue box that says 'New'.

Interesting how Canadians seem to find it challenging, but most others seem to cope. Does that tell us something?
I don't think we Canadians (is it just Bob and I?) find it challenging, just that the aesthetics are not quite up to our high standards.

Now that I think of it perhaps the change is necessary for the aging members of the forum with dimming eyesight as everything looks larger and brighter.

It's all in jest ........................................... Mahmoud.

The developer is still working on integrating the forum with the main site. I am hoping he will finish today. I suspect there are things I can do about colours and display options, but I don’t want to touch anything until he is finished.
