Hayling Island

Hi all, we are taking a short break to Hayling Island. Does anyone have any recommendations of places to eat near here. We are staying in the north coast of the island, and we don't mind driving. Thanking you in advance.

This is the second thread within a day which reminds me of places I knew but haven't visited for some time! I used to live in Emsworth in the early '80s - I'd have to say if there was anywhere notable at the time I didn't discover it, so when my parents visited we either ate at home or went a bit further afield...

Re: Emsworth - Fat Olives is still good, but small, booking essential; 36 on the quay looked *very* shut when I was walking past last weekend. There's a new cocktail bar (JJ's I think) on that road which looks fairly trendy, not been in yet.

Thanks all. We are struggling to utilize any suggestions since we are going at awkward times, Sunday through to Tuesday. We were even willing to drive to Lavant to the Royal Oak, but sadly they are also closed on a Sunday and Monday evening.

They have a sister pub/restaurant Bobby the White Horse Chilgrove which is open until 7pm Sunday and Monday evenings until 9pm.

That wasn't quite what I meant, Tom.

White Horse is part of the same group the Royal Oak in Lavant I recco'd.

The list doesn't look quite as keen as either the Royal Oak or perhaps days of yore but if every pub in the land had a list like that I'd be happy!
