Memorable Wine Lists

Sagoo and Takhar(The Roxy) in Southall had the shortest list I ever recall when it first got its licence -Wine(bottle) £6.
The restaurant is still there but with each new gentrification it became less and less good and is now off my list, very regrettably because some of their dishes were definitive.
I wish the Red Burgundy section were visible in your photograph!

So Rioja (a place), Wolf Blass (a producer) and Pinot Grigio (a grape variety) are all just generic brands. Fabulous.

I was taken to dinner last night; independently owned pub/restaurant next to a lake with great views over the lake and outside seating. 'Course it was dark and we couldn't see the lake and it was too cold to sit outside. Website promises 'Service Second to None", take away the middle two words for a truer promise.

Anyway, here is their wine list http://www.thewatermeadinn.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/Drinks-2019.pdf

Maybe not unusual in this type of venue, except they run the occasion Wine Tasting Course!

Maybe the Chablis is Ravenneau abs the Pinot DRC :p

I guess the DP is the only possible buy even without a vintage identifier. That or order a Smirnoff Ice (not entirely sure what this is, but presumably not neat vodka) and a WKD Blue (even less idea what this is) and mix them at the table.

We had the Rioja on the grounds that it will be bottled in the region, rather than bulk shipped.

It came closed with a cork and the bar person didn't know how to open it, so my son wielded the corkscrew.

I'm not a beer person, but they advertise "NEW LOOK, NEW MENU, NEW Wines & the only pub in bucks that do craft beers on draught, worth a try. Punk IPA, Yakima Red and Shipyard APA.

I recall fondly a type written list at the Oberoi in Bombay (as it was then) which offered "Latour wine", no more details...there were still the remnants of a great wine there.
