NWR new zero tolerance covid thread

AZ on Saturday afternoon, pretty much 12 hours later high temperature and heart racing, flu like symptoms and cough yesterday, along with dizziness and zero appetite, another bad night last night with plenty of sweat, now today still listless and light headed. All of which is on the recognised list, though jealous of my wife who just had mild arm ache for a couple of days... hopefully dose 2 will be easier!

Medical experts in London today were asked if it is time to ease the COVID
lockdowns.
Allergists were in favour of scratching it, but Dermatologists advised not
to make any rash moves.
Gastroenterologists had a sort of a gut feeling about it, but Neurologists
thought the government lacked the nerve.
Obstetricians felt certain everyone was labouring under a misconception,
while Ophthalmologists considered the idea short-sighted.
Many Pathologists yelled, "Over my dead body!" while Paediatricians said,
"Oh, grow up!"
Psychiatrists thought the whole idea was madness, while Radiologists could
see right through it.
Surgeons decided to wash their hands of the whole thing and pharmacists
claimed it would be a bitter pill to swallow.
Plastic Surgeons opined that this proposal would "put a whole new face on
the matter."
Podiatrists thought it was a step forward, but Urologists were pissed off by
the whole idea.
Anaesthetists thought the whole idea was a gas, and Cardiologists didn't
have the heart to say no.
In the end, the Proctologists won out, leaving the entire decision up to the
a**holes in politics.

Dizziness, zero appetite, listless, light-headed...sounds like the ride home post WIMPS!

Here in Albera, Canada, the age restriction for Astra Zeneca has just been lowered to 40 years, mainly because of the number of doses available and a significant reluctance on the part of some people to take a vaccine and in many cases the Astra Zeneca vaccine. So the better half goes to a downtown pharmacy and gets her vaccine over the lunch hour. She's happy to get it but later in the evening she feels achy, isn't feeling to well and has a slight fever.

By the way the AZ in Canada comes from the Serum Institute in India.

She didn't go to work the next day and spent most of the day in bed nursing a headache. By the evening she was feeling a bit better though a bit wrung out. She was however confident that she would be able to go to work the next day. I am relieved.
I had the AZ vaccine and the next day felt very tired. We had taken the children to Thorpe Park - a theme park on the outskirts of London. I ended up sleeping in the car for a couple of hours while Karen and the children queued for rides.

Still - seems like a very small price to pay for the benefits of the vaccine - both to me and to everyone else. And honestly, I didn't really mind not queueing for rides at a theme park...

I was walking to my gym (a council sport centre) in central, and bump into this ... don‘t know how to describe it without harsh words protest:
(some photos I borrow from my previous colleague who happens to live next to the protest upstairs)

They even actively tried to persuade people next to parade not to wear mask. (The Starbucks next to the protest simply close the store probably because too many people wanted to get in but didn‘t wear mask) Indeed, it is no need to wear mask outdoor, but simply to annoy them, I put on my mask walking by.

Is there a category of Darwin Awards for people who remove others from the gene pool as well as themselves?

Extraordinary

I had AZ pt2 this morning, I was fine most of the day, currently shivers, flushes and aches, a lot like pt1 which was done over night and decidedly less fun than post wimps, but a minor issue compared to the past year or so and the many that have died or been seriously ill

"Your government is lying to you." Could that be a li(n)e fed to them by the Chinese government's 50 cent army internet trolls? It looks totally out of place in a local context.

Many hold slogans like "protect our children" or the one in my last photo "stop selling kids" Not quite sure what they mean, if they mean children covid vaccination then why use the word "selling"... anyway I probably shouldn‘t try to make sense of what they say.

I think that is indeed a QAnon reference, Po-Yu.
The weird thing is that a look at countries led by right-wing demagogues such as Brazil and India where they have adopted the policies recommended by these demonstrators should prove conclusively that they are a very bad idea indeed.

I wonder how many of the demonstrators are vaccinated, if any?

It's a quotation from "Dr. Michael Yeadon, Pfizer’s former Vice President and Chief Scientist for Allergy & Respiratory".
Thanks Steve, I didn't know that. A complicated picture but his unnecessarily confident forecasts about herd immunity and likely Covid-19 death totals, and maybe the comments by ex-colleagues, suggest that on vaccines he might not have been thinking as clearly as perhaps he once did.

As to your protestors Po, social distancing would prevent me from knocking their heads together, but I’m very glad I wasn’t walking past them otherwise I may just have broken the rules. I can’t imagine what someone who has lost a loved one to this would do.

Anyway, it seems that the time has come to go and get stuck. I’m hoping that the side effects are mild as I need to be in charge of outdoor and Covid safe junior cricket training the next day.

Some people breeze through, some get knocked for six for a day or two. You could always brief a stand-in lest you be sixed.

This article bugs me a little bit - it quotes the WHO at the beginning, and complains about "experts" (who they seem to be implying are not really experts) spreading lies and falsehoods, but ignores the lies and falsehoods spread by the WHO and other organisations.

They knew that the virus was spread predominantly through aerosol dispersion and that masks were vital to slowing the spread, for example, but didn't tell people. I don't think this was done out of a sense of malice - more organisational inertia, and the desire to tell "noble lies" that would deceive the populace into doing the right thing - either way the impact has been very damaging to the credibility of the non-inverted comma experts who are supposed to protect us.

I think that when we are able to look back at the past 15 months or so and assess what really happened, the fact that public health organisations consistently dissembled to the public will be seen as having been more influential than misinformation campaigns by malicious grifters.

Anyway - I fear I am getting into dangerous territory and such thoughts might be better posted in the *other* place.
