Rhône 2018

3 x Gonon for me plus the Roumier and Burlotto last year (my first year)

My theory is that is you put in a decent order of various items in January/Feb from TWS then it kicks you up the pecking order, I think the Fourrier, Roumier and Dujac splurges last month might have done it, or maybe it's an alphabet thing who knows?

I got 3 Gonon, normally get 6 but I guess everybody knows how good it is now and wants some! Still 3 is better than 0! Get everything else I asked for so no complaints from me. Very happy in fact!

Asked for and got lots of minor stuff that anyone would get. The only two things of any consequence that I asked for I received 0 and 0. (Gonon and Sorrell Crozes).

I suppose I could be churlish and hand it all back...

I used to do that when they offered me 6 rather than 12 of a wine. Those were the days. Perhaps now we will see them again!

Vinetrail’s 2018 offer just out this week and spent all my Lockdown savings on-
Gonon white-£489.60/12 IB 13.8%
Gonon red-£455.40/12 13.8%
Gonon “Les Isles Feray” £176.40/6
Guillaume Gilles Cornas £439.80/12 13.5%
Faurie Bessard/Méal £379.50/6 14.5%
Moulin de la Gardette Gigondas Tradition £240/12
Plenty of other goodies from Gripa, Duclaux, Charvin, Roucas Toumba and Ferrand but decided to concentrate on N. Rhône estates I’ve bought in the past and tasted in situ with Nick last year.
Pretty expensive compared to ten years ago but fantastic value for some of us Syrah chisellers!

I did, last year when VT signed him up. Some good barrel samples but I wasn't convinced with his "natural" philosophy, especially with bottling. I'd need to see some with a little bottle age to be convinced.

I know they’ve had a problem in the past ( definitely not saying you Chiu) of people trying to cherry pick Gonon, Leroy, Bouchard etc without buying other stuff. Normally the trade takes 95% of their wines but guessing things may be slightly different now and they are obviously keen to increase their private client base.

I tried to buy Gonon from them 4 years ago, they pretty much told me to F off. At the end, didn’t matter as I managed to get annual allocation for a case somewhere else.
I would like to think they would have done this politely. They have always provided good service. Though, their allocation system has meant I’ve not bought from them recently, with the wines sourced from elsewhere.
