Auction SALE! 17th September 10.00

Yes folks it's hammer time again and this time around it is a real humdinger. Like Bordeaux? You'll love this sale. Like interesting Spanish and Italian lots? Plenty of them too. Always wanted to buy Screaming eagle but couldn't get on the waiting list? Now's your chance. Frankly, this sale is just full of very, very good things whether you are after some drinking Rioja or some seriously impressive trophy wines. There's also the unusual chance to buy some IB wines in quantities less than a while case, including first growths, some very nice 09 st emilions and the small matter of Chateau Petrus. The catalogue is here Fine Wines for Autumn

Come and see us at 67 Pall Mall - as it's a Tuesday there will be champagne!

Cheers

Chris

A small gremlin was suggesting a few lots that are DP were IB, said gremlin now clobbered. Take the main description as gospel Will. If it says IN BOND at the end then it’s IB, if not then duty paid. If you spot anything you have a question about do shout.

Chris, can you remind me - is it possible to arrange for IB transfer on won lots? Or is Duty/VAT always payable?

Edit: Thinking about this for more than a minute, the answer is undoubtedly yes.

Chris, is there any way to leave commission bids but with a cap on the aggregate spend? So for example if you leave 10 commission bids and win the first 5, the remaining 5 bids are cancelled?

My fear is that winning all speculative bids would take some serious explaining.

I am available, in such circumstances, and for what is actually not such a high fee if you think about it, once the initial shock of the figure has passed, to provide a doctor's letter explaining how unusually extravagant purchases were made on medical advice.

Ah yes. Also known as Elton's Syndrome, I believe.

We should probably pencil in a call soon after 17th September to discuss your fee!

For an extra fee, admittedly astronomical, you can suffer from a syndrome of your own chosen nomenclature, and I shall construct a Wikipedia page asserting its existence in the teeth of those wedded to the narrow & blinkered confines of reality.

Aside from said fee, there would of course be some form of commission to pay....

To answer your question Will, if you email us your commission bids then we will put them onto the book manually then one of the team will monitor and pull the plug should it be necessary. We can't do it on the main bidding automated bidding system.

Thanks very much Chris. I will be in touch.

Eric - I look fwd to hearing all about your bespoke syndrome service and perhaps a wider discussion on anything else you are prepared to do if the price is right :)
