Not looking to hijack the Competitive Offers thread, but just seeking thoughts on probable sales, scale and sequence in the near future...would hate to use my limited firepower before the goodies appear!
Cellar Link Marketplace has added a 15% discount on all of its wines (discount code: BREXIT2019). Virtually only Australian wine, all with quite a bit of (and in my experience, sometimes too much) age. I would recommend the 2001 and 2002 d'Arenberg Coppermine Road, which is an absolute steal even before the extra discount and still drinking really well.
There was indeed a fairly recent statement by a top cork producer executive suggesting just that which included a reference to an AWRI [Australian Wine Research Institute] study that 'proved' it.Now this is interesting. Why would the corks dry out? Wasn’t there a recent study that ‘proved’ that there was sufficient humidity within a bottle of wine to keep the cork in good condition, even if the bottle was stored vertically?
I think it was a case of poor quality corks and bad storage Nigel, a well known issue with Australian Red's of the last decade.
BBR sale starts today at 12 noon.
Just had a look and I have to agree. Maybe J&B will come up with a more interesting list.Well that's the least interesting BBR sale in a while! Nothing at all tempting me, and the prices don't seem all that special.
Two recent visits to M3 depot were less rewarding than usual. The pricing is not so keen, nowadays. Managed to ferret out sufficient to merit the detour. No longer merits a special trip.Well that's the least interesting BBR sale in a while! Nothing at all tempting me, and the prices don't seem all that special.
