Supermarket promotions Q1 2022

alex the mags are, hopefully, 241 which IIRC is 2013 base as opposed to the bottles which are 242 and 2014 base. As always with waitrose we shall see what turns up!

I saw that drinksupermarket had 03 Krug magnums for a very good price so ordered some. And look what turned up! I love it when you ask for one thing and get a better vintage. Also snaffled some 08 DP mags for a good price. I think they have some left in case anyone is interested. Not a usual merchant I use but delivered within two days and in excellent condition.

And gone…. May we enquire as to the price?

Lidl new wine tour starts on 24th March
From Krug magnums to Lidl sale in 3 posts - that's why I love this forum :D

Another restock from Waitrose. I have a sneaking suspicion they update their stock around 6am UK time (which is great when you’re on holiday 4 hours ahead…)

This morning - more Krug, Dom 2012 (first time they’ve had Dom this time around) and mags of the LR 241. Also a smattering of some Bordeaux.

Enjoy!

I'm a little bit down on DP '12, not much between this and the '10 (both 94/100, although the '10 may outdo the '12). Dosage has gone way too light, and the 2012 lacks the dry extract one expects in a young DP. 2012 will be better served as a P2.

I've said it before, but the entire Dom Perignon range is being positioned for the Plenitudes program: the domaine don't want you to age the original releases for a long period of time, they want you to drink them up and then buy P2 or P3 further down the line.

Palmer's Blanc de Blancs is a nice wine, drawn from Montagne de Reims chardonnay (Pinot country), this is a pure 2015 and not a horrible one either! Only a hint of vintage greenness, this has both precision and richness.

Their BdB NV en Mag is just clicking over from all 07 to all 08.
Whilst that was not available at Taste the wines they did have, 3 from mag were all good, if at the moment seeming a little dosed up.
Just in passing the Roederer 14 BdB seemed as if a chalk bucket from mineral city.
