Supermarket promotions Q3 2022

My local Sainsbury's was selling Mirabeau Etoile Rose for £9 a bottle; while this may be something of a wild goose chase (it's not priced at that on their website) it's possibly something worth looking for if you happen to be going to your local branch - Tom's given it a good write up on more than one occasion.

25% off 6+ at Asda until 29 August from today or tomorrow. Excludes Champagne; other fizz included

Expect similar at Tesco and Sainsburys, probably not until next week and all excluding Scotland.

Aldi have 2016 Moulinet (Pomerol) in their online sale at £19.99 (no store goose chasing required)

Cheapest in Europe according to WS Pro. Not a produced I've very familiar with but notes suggest modern-ish style.

Isn’t Moulinet the alternative name for Clos Rene? If so, that’s a good price for such a good vintage.

Thanks, Neil. I thought those two were the same but it seems that Ch Moulinet tout court is different from Ch Moulinet Laserre. I don’t think I’ve come across Ch Moulinet before and mistakenly confused it with Moulinet Laserre. I’ve enjoyed Clos Rene/Moulinet Laserre (good for what they are as Clive Coates might have said) in the past but it’s many years since I’ve had it.

In my local Tesco this evening, under duress, when I noticed some wines on the shelf where they get rid of end of lines, damaged tins etc. Most of the stuff was decent. I picked up a Brooks Road Chardonnay ( a Tesco in partnership with Howard Park wine) which I've had before and like for 11.25 down from 15. Also a Nipozzano Chianti also 11.25 from 15. I might wander back tomorrow to have a more detailed look at what is there but noted a Rustenberg unoaked Chardonnay, some Schloss Vollrads and the Aussie Tingleup Riesling that is reasonably well regarded. All about £3 down on normal price. I guess if this is being repeated in other stores the wines might vary but it could well be worth a look but note these were not with the other wines but on the end of line shelf.

And Sainsbury's also now confirmed from tomorrow (Weds). Ends Sunday

Lanson, Moet same price as Tesco, also L-P vintage £44 > £33
Jaboulet Viognier £8 > £6 may be worth a punt
Also had a couple of quid off Contino Reserva when I was in last week. It was the 2018 not sure how that was? But could be a double discount situation.

Some of the Lanson BL in Sainsburys today were 2013 based and disgorged in 2021, while others were 2016 base disgorged early 2022.

Interesting! A bottle of the former rescued for science (the 2016 is not bad either, but needs 3+ years post disgorgement).
