The notes say that the bottles are to be drunk within three years and the magnums within two, I don't know whether that's any indication of anything.
Bad tasting notes?

I wonder has Tom been sent any of the wine tour wines to taste?
Well I’ve just taken two for the team, hopefully we can share one at some stage and find out !If they are and if disgorged when mine say so then this should be spectacularly good vfm. I almost opened one on spec as we have friends here tonight and it arrived having been in the back of a cold van but was put off by disgorgement date.
I've put half a dozen in reserves, I suspect it won't be bad anyway and the value is good, but it would be useful to know how long to leave them. Recent Henriot experience has rendered this a swerve from meI couldn't resist a 6 pack of the Gosset, extremely good at £32 per bottle.
I'm half tempted to get a 6 pack of Henriot too, a house I've always enjoyed in the past, though a fairly damning verdict on more recent bottles by @Colin Bradley has put me off for now...
Yes in general, like most decent wines they need a bit of time to settle down.I've put half a dozen in reserves, I suspect it won't be bad anyway and the value is good, but it would be useful to know how long to leave them. Is it true that recently disgorged magnums always benefit from time?
Asda 25% off 6+ in England. 18 Nov -12 Dec. Does include Champagne, giving
- Lanson £19.50
- Moet £24
- Bollinger £32.75
- Tattinger £22.50
At present, the offer doesn't show online, so be cautious if ordering online and be prepared to cancel should the offer not materialise.
And tweaked the sale to exclude Champagne... do you think they've been looking at this thread ?Having popped into branch today it seems they have tweaked the start date to Mon 22/11.
Honestly, No, I’d stick to TWS own.Compared with TW's own fizz, would you rather have any of these instead?
Castelnau Brut Reserve
Jules Camuzet Brut
Jean de Foigny Brut
Nyetimber Brut Classic
Thank you Paul. As a Rhone fan that was one of the very few wines I was tempted to ask my partner to pick up next time she is shopping.I can strongly advise NOT to try the Aldi Gigondas 'special election'. I had half a bottle last night and feel like i've been 10 rounds with jackhamner and george foreman. 17 quid as well.
Many thanks, Oliver, v helpful indeed!Honestly, No, I’d stick to TWS own.
Castelnau I actively dislike. Jules Camuzet rather too light and simple. I haven’t tried Jean de Foigny. Nyetimber can be decent but I have not had it for a while.
If one wanted to try a few and get a decent discount, the TWS mixed christmas champagne might be a good option or indeed the grower case. Both with good discounts. Castelnau and Boizel put me off ordering the former.
I wonder if that includes the sherry half bottles? they are very worthwhile.
I suspect they saw the circling of vultures here....Slim pickings amongst the supermarkets for Champagne so far,....
