TECH: attaching images

Just a reminder: to embed an image in a post click "Attach files" at the bottom of the window where you are typing, then choose an image from your phone or computer. However there is then a further step which is to choose bettween inserting the image as a thumbnail or full size. These options are actually superimposed on the image after upload and can be easily missed. If you do not postively choose "insert full size" the image will default to thumbnail, which is why some uploaded images appear in posts as small, indistict squares.

If you have done this accidentally you should be able to, as post author, edit the post and then click on "insert full size" on the image.

Image below inserted without choosing thumbail or full size. Note that you can click on it to see the full-size version.

I usually just click on the file (photo) in File Explorer and drag and drop it into the thread and it always comes in at full size. However it does show below the thread with the option to display it as a thumbnail.

Images can be dragged in I believe, though it is not the recommended way - possibly because different operating systems and devices handle it inconsistently

Also forum tech releated, I've noticed that when posting text copied from a table, it's not possible to remove the table (or cell). At least, it's not possible for me. The remove formatting button has no effect.

Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese

Similar is true when posting differently formatted text:

2003 Selbach-Oster Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese

The text can be manipulated in some ways, ie size, but the bold stays whatever.

Best way is to paste into a text editor first, then recopy without formatting.

This is pretty easy to fix however, if you go into the markup view in edit post - which is the [ ] icon (screenshot from iOS):

and remove the TABLE TR TD and HEADING tags:

Code:
[TABLE]
[TR]
[TD]Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese[/TD]
[/TR]
[/TABLE]

Similar is true when posting differently formatted text:
[HEADING=2]2003 Selbach-Oster Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese[/HEADING]

The text remains without formatting:

Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese

Similar is true when posting differently formatted text:
2003 Selbach-Oster Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese

I often find it easier, when pasting from one thing to another, to paste into Notepad (on a windows pc - I presume Macs have a similar text editor), and then just copy and paste from Notepad into the desired destination.

The forum will try to preserve formatting which generally is a good thing, but it can be annoying. The suggestion to post as unformatted text in an intermediate document (Word would be fine) than post the unformatted copy here is probably the best solution. Editing the 'BB Code' as outline by George is also possible, as he says, the [ ] symbol top right of the posting window and click it again to exit the BB Code editor.
