NWR The crow dross (anag. 9) thread

That'll be
rye

Is the first one
whiskyfrisky
or maybe
friskywhisky
?

Mind you, I lived in Scotland for quite some time and it's not an expression I ever heard. Still, nothing less than nonsense to be expected from AZED, and I suppose it fits, sort-of.

Yep, well done Rod - you are obviously into your Scotch.

Mum holds festivity back requiring sweet wine (6)
malaga

Measure introduced, abnormal charge for wine (8)
grenache

But I have spent way too much time that could've been put to the consumption of sherry, or sticking pins into my eyes, or something else similarly valuable over:

Tot with a dash of tequila in revived wine (4)

I suppose it's probably
stum
But I don't really know why, and I hate it.

Difficult one now from AZED 2278:

Padre running water around wine dishes (7)

And from the same puzzle, easier but I didn't get it because I'm ill and crap at the moment (I feel like Jelly Head from Viz!)

Wine consumed, mints cafe mostly scattered showing whimsicality (12)

No idea! Although your having actually described it as 'difficult' meant I gave up on it earlier than I did with 'stum' et al. Best I can come up with is:
usual-azed-bollocks

Wine consumed, mints cafe mostly scattered showing whimsicality (12)
fantasticism
I rather like that, however.

A couple of easy ones:

Pompous man is left rambling about wine (4-9)

Bubbly title-holder, beaten finally in time (9)

Here's a rather nice NWR clue:

Doctor hated curtains (5)

Palm Monsieur put in his wine as 'food factor' (7)

vitamin

I had to look up 'types of palm'...

(By the way, Daron, on a PC, if you click the 'insert' option - the icon the the right of the film strip - it gives you drop-down options, one of which is 'spoiler'.)
