NWR The "What are we listening to?" Thread

On a bit of an R.E.M. kick at the moment for some reason - well, the main reason being that I think they are brilliant. But also 100% culpable: earworms aplenty. The chorus of this refused to leave my brain for a week.

Truly excellent live band. On one occasion I ended up post gig in a bar where Peter Buck recognised my rather unsubtle shirt from the front row and had a good chat.

Yes, have seen them live twice, once in the pouring rain at an open air gig (Stirling Castle), but they failed to recognise my shirt or me :)

Have secured a ticket for the Blues Band final tour. Paul Jones, Tom McGuinness, Dave Kelly, Gary Fletcher and Rob Townsend will hang up their R&B boots and hopefully will be an awesome celebration of the blues. Have been listening to the Blues Box - a 4 CD compilation of their material released since they formed in 1979 and it really is so very good. They are going to leave a big hole but hopefully Paul Jones continues his radio work and maybe the “younger” band members will continue to tour.

Not quite listening yet, but just ordered a RSD release of Ultravox! Live At The Rainbow 1977 album on ltd edition 45rpm vinyl (only 1500 copies). Should arrive tomorrow!!
Also just found out The Damned are playing Edinburgh Assembly Rooms on Wed 15th June :D

I mentioned this artist and the use of this Rufus Wainwright composition in the Sky series Devils. It is really a moody jazz rendering so if you are on a bouncy castle or upbeat activity save till later.
