Is Alino really 60? I would have guessed 20 years younger, lucky fellow. I'm fascinated to know in particular how the Camus showed, the ones i've tried have been uniformly dreadful but Bill Nanson has sometimes recommended them as a reliable source.

Alino has so generously shared such great bottles with me/us over the years the pressure was on to get it right on this night.
Only a few additional bottles were allowed a place alongside Alino’s fabulous assembled flights.
Donald and I popped The 02 Rare 30 mins earlier assuming it was Mytik closed.
It was under cork and about as good a bottle of 02 Rare as I can recall…….phew!
Mind you even that could not displace the DRC as my WOTN a bit of a line-up!…… reflecting the Alino standard.
Special mention of The Yquem is due….wonderful finish to proceedings.

The d'Yquem '75 is near the top of my 'those that got away' list. Declined to buy at £50 early on in my vinous journey. Je ne regrette rien - not in this case.

It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Having first met Alino way back in 1996, he hasn't changed one bit. He might actually look younger now than back then! A big thanks to the birthday boy for a spectacular evening, a night when I didn't even place the DRC in my top three. I also learned a lot about the economy and the Bank of England.

Many congratulations to Alino for the sexagenary milestone... I don't know in Philipino culture but in Chinese it's a major thing. And many thanks for Alino's generosity as well as other guests contribution, this was really quite an event to be remembered.
I am sure experts like Ian, Neal, Paul... can give good look-back on the wine. For me the top five are DRC 01, Mouton 82, Yquem 75, Leflaive 85, Rare 02. With DRC fulfilled the expectation and the other four exceeded the expectation (aka good bottles).
Re Mark: the menu and food from the new chef in La Trompette :
