Food Bavarian Slaw

  1. Here comes the classic Bavarian Krautsalat, traditionally served with Schweinebraten.


    500g sweetheart cabbage or cabbage

    50g bacon cubes

    1tsp caraway seeds

    1/2 – 1 tsp salt

    2 tbsp white wine vinegar

    4-5 tbsp sunflower oil


    1. Halve the cabbage


    2. Remove the hard core


    3. Slice the cabbage thinly with a sharp knife or mandoline


    4. Put into a bowl and add the salt. Massage the cabbage and let it for 30min.


    5. Meanwhile sauté the bacon cubes and let it rest.


    6. Add vinegar, oil, caraway seeds, black pepper to the cabbage and combine.


    7. Finally add the bacon cubes and put in the fridge for 2-3h or overnight.

  3. No I haven´t. Some people do, some people don't. What's your onion?
