Competitive Offers from Retailers

I lost my head and ordered 2 in about 30 seconds flat, quite surprised they've stayed in stock even this long, usually anything decent over there vanishes in minutes
I stuck my head in at the cellar door in Haro last week. They would only sell you a bottle of Gravonia if you bought 5 of Tondonia red. And they weren’t willing to sell any of the rosé. TWS box is a good arrangement.

De Burgh selling off Chablis. Looks like genuine discounts around the 20% mark. Lesser producers like Jean Dauvissat bringing 1er cru in at £25 a bottle for 2020
That offer has now finished but now doing an up to 25% off selected Burgundies. You can also get an extra 10% your first order if over £120 and free delivery over £100. Good deal I think.

Tim Adams Riesling slightly reduced to a tenner, with free delivery, via their website. Only until Sunday. You need to click through to see the discount. Might be of interest now that a certain deplorable supermarket has stopped stocking it.

I've suddenly started getting emails from Tim Adams when I've never signed up with them. I wondered if it was because I bought the Riesling from TEE. So essentially my address has been passed onto the winery via TEE. Is that legal?

I know we distrust our mega-market chains, but they will never indulge in this sort of data sharing, this is likely from another source.

Talking of absolutely fabulous tricks, from an email received today:
Last week we offered special prices and free delivery on sealed cases of XXXX. [...] The response to the offer was tremendous and a few wines are already showing just one case left.
Yeah, right...

Thanks Ben, that's good to know.
I still get a lot of email from reputable companies that shouldn't still have my email address as it should be deleted under gdpr. Should I be reporting them?

I suspect it’s more about poor data management from companies than anything nefarious so reporting them maybe a little tough to start with, if they are reputable I would reply to the email requesting that your email and data is deleted to start with

Appreciating that the retailer's name i am about to mention is something of a pariah on this forum, on one of my Amex cards there's an offer for £80 off if you spend £260 or more at Laithwaites. Quite a sizeable discount even allowing for Laithwaite's usually somewhat inflated prices. Worth looking out for if you have an Amex.

The Tondonia Blanco 2012 went out of stock while I looked. It was £75. I mentioned on another thread that its on the list at Montain in Soho for a very reasonable £125.

The Gravonia also out of stock. Didn't catch the price.

Just had an offer for Lanson Extra Age Brut NV drop into my mailbox from N.D. John Wine Merchants for £39.95 per bottle. Seems to be a significant bargain in comparison to other WS Pro pricing. Anyone have much experience of this, not normally a massive fan of Lanson but this seems a bit of a steal.

As ever, no association except having bought a few things from them previously

Cheers

CD
