Dry Martini - how do you make yours?

I think i drank it quicker because it was less cold - and I agree that was also why the alcohol seemed more prominent.

But yes, clearly my preference is for a Bradford. I live literally yards from the border with Bradford (just in Leeds), and am actually from there, but I can honestly say there is nowhere in Bradford serving a decent Bradford, or Martini for that matter.

An authentic Martini in Bradford/W Yorks requires only the bottle, cheaper Borelli preferred, a bus stop shelter with appropriate whiff and a couple of spotty mates. Was very much the rage c. 1987-9.

I once had an exceptional gin martini in Saratoga near San Jose, at The Plumed Horse. The barman mixed the ingredients in a small, chilled jug, then poured it into another that contained a large ice cube. He repeated this several times. Very effective.

I ended up getting a lift back to my Airbnb by a local entrepreneur - little did I know, he’d just sold his business for an 8 figure sum a few hours beforehand, all over the news the next day. A surreal night!

For those to whom these things matter the construction of a Martini is, I think, as individually definite as the choice of the correct Tie for the man about town!

As with so many of the simplest things in life it's remarkably easy to get it wrong. Having found my way to my own version I'm now unable to order a Martini when out drinking.

8 parts Berry's No3 Gin (Frozen)
1 part Cocchi Americano

Stirred with ice, Strained/Poured into a Martini glass, from the freezer, with Lemon zested over it. Perfection.
