It's kind of like saying that wine is a "living thing".
I'm a down-to-earth kind of guy, so any spirituality that may possibly exist in wine does not come from the wine, but the drinker.

It's totally an earthly thing. No spirituality involved, unless you think biodynamics makes a difference.

Haven't listened to the programme but obvs wine used in religious ceremonies as a symbol is intended to have spiritual meaning.
In Christianity I think that's part of the point, transubstantiation links the earthly with the heavenly.
