Today (May 11th) was Mothering Sunday in the U.S. so we went to our favourite spot in San Diego - Wolf in the Woods - to have a celebration Mother's Day lunch.
The owner of Wolf in the Woods is from New Mexico, so there's a very tasty New Mexican influence in the menu.
And with an impressive selection of European brews and American pilsners on tap, it was the perfect occasion to enjoy a couple of glasses of Saison Dupont.
I haven't had this beer in centuries, and I couldn't believe what I've been missing all this time. I'm sure everyone knows this beer dates back to 1844 and features top fermentation with a secondary refermentation in the barrel.
You couldn't miss the yeasty flavours up front, with spices, a little bit of honey and beautiful notes of clover in the finish.
A fabulous thirst-quencher which was thoroughly enjoyed with 95-degree temps outside. Better yet, not an IPA in sight!
