NWR New feature showcase - spoilers

The spoilers feature is an unusual one. We came up with a little fun idea of quizzes, but there may be other cool uses of this concept.

Quiz 1

Named after an officer in the Indian Army who (with his brothers) purchased the land, but apparently never set foot on the property

1st vintage in 1859

The largest producer in its geographical region

Produced white burgundy from 1937 to 2005

Now owned by Accolade wines

and if you want to check your guess, the answer is here:
Houghton

Quiz 2
Name this classed growth Claret
Founded in 1754

Has two 'second' wines

Found on the left bank

Bought out by a relative (who owned another Classed Growth Chateau) in 1806 but retained it's identity to the current day

The founding family had their roots in Scotland, but made their trade in Belfast

and if you want to check your guess, the answer is here:
Boyd-Cantenac

Quiz 3 – Only connect style

4 clues. Name the connection between them – come in as soon as you think you know the answer, for a higher points score.

Pikes wines, Clare Valley

Brancott Estate, Marlborough

Chateau Karakemer, Kazakhstan

Baron von Twickel Wine Estates, Szekszárd

and when you want to check your guess, the answer is here:

Forumite and flying winemaker Nayan Gowda, and wineries he’s worked at

Oh but ever so slightly sneaky in the wording :D

If anyone fancies seeing how it's done, then just press 'reply' to original post and it will show the structure. It is remarkably quick to copy/paste and edit when creating additional quizzes using the same format.

I'll have a go (light relief from the mania)

Name this grape variety

I'm not an ancient variety - I was created by crossing two others

I'm also know as Petit-Vidure

My parents were CF and SB

I am the world's most planted variety

and if you want to check your guess, the answer is here:

Cabernet Sauvignon
