When Italy won the football World Cup in 1982 I was still of an age where the players had an almost mythical status to me, and Rossi was one of the footballers who made an everlasting imprint on my memory.

I will never forget the Italy Brazil game in the 1982 World Cup in which Paulo Rossi played a starring role, netting a hat trick and Italy won an absolute thriller 3-2. One of the best games of football ever seen.

Agree with you Ian - I remember running home from schook and being utterly mesmerised by the colour, the football and the intensity of that game. Rossi was on such a hot streak - and remember, Italy sucked in the group phases.
