Pure Project "Crops & Hops" 9th Anniversary Festival.

The bad news: It was extremely windy - although the sun did make an appearance - and as cold as (think of a word rhyming with "kite").

The good news: There was plenty of high gravity beers on the agenda.

Proudly showing off my VIP ticket, which got me in at 11.30am instead of the standard ticket entry time of 1.00pm, plus I got to enjoy certain "VIP Only" brews, I was determined to make the most of a windy, cold day.

Pure Project only feature their own beers at their festivals, so with that said, these are the beers I tasted. I elected to only try stouts and a Saison/Sour. All the beers were on tap.

1. Almond Supreme (12.5%).
Bourbon Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout w/Raspberries, Almonds and Vanilla.

2. Arenal (12.2%).
Bourbon Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout w/Coconut and Coconut Cream.

3. Dark Nirvana (14.2%).
Bourbon Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout w/Pecans, Marshmallows and Coconut.

4. The Tenth Night (15.8%).
Rum Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout w/Coconut.

5. Cream of the Crop (12.5%).
Bourbon Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout w/Raspberries, Coconut and Vanilla.

6. Triple Lux (18.0%).
Bourbon Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout w/Maple Syrup, Vanilla, Coconut and Geisha Coffee.

7. Sonora By Mornin' (8.6%).
Barrel-Aged Saison w/Prickly Pear and Nebbiolo Grapes.

8. Methode Peche (6.6%).
Oak Barrel-Aged Sour w/Peaches.

Unlike the Burgeon Brewing festival, the pourers at Pure were very fastidious in making sure that an advertised 5-ounce pour was very much a 5-ounce pour. Very wise, considering the ABV's on offer. And the Saison and the Sour were very welcome, following a string of stouts!
