One of a pair of different Ridgeway bottles I picked up over Christmas and a very rare opportunity to use my Tanner's Jack tankard.
This is what the label said: "Rich, hardy and flavorful, brewed to an original 1795 Thames Valley recipe with a pale amber malt that's rarely used nowadays, and balanced by a modest addition of Fuggles hops".
Bad Elf really reminded me of the cask ales I would drink back in England; nutty, bready and malty with light yeasty flavours - a touch of toasted caramel with light spice nuances.
Very enjoyable and a far cry from what's being brewed in our part of the planet.
