Speaking of 'what cheeses me off' (I'm beyond 'silly' & 'little' I think); why is it that software which on the whole works tolerable well - like airline ticket booking websites for example - is constantly changed to no apparent benefit, forcing you to refamiliarise yourself with it endlessly, yet software which is largely antiquated rubbish never improves?
Example - traffic lights. They put that bloody amber light in a hundred years ago, and today, even when we have camera-controlled everything, self-driving cars, and advanced technology, when a lone car comes up a side street late at night, stops all the main-road traffic, then turns out with its green, the damn stupid amber light has to come on and waste another five seconds for no reason, except no-one cares enough to make traffic lights even slightly efficient, or utilize the traffic surveillance camera which is already sitting there.
Feels like I've spent years sitting at red lights, watching an empty intersection, waiting for some idiot programming to do its thing, wondering how anyone could be satisfied with the quality of the work they've done in efficiently controlling traffic.
The answer is, of course, that they couldn't give a sh*t. It certainly shows, at any rate.
