NWR Silly Little Things That Annoy You

Things that beep, especially when there is no way of turning the beep off.

Or when you cannot locate the source of the beeping, and spend what seems like hours tracking the bugger down in a room filled with various electronic devices.

Then there our mains-powered smoke alarms that have a battery backup in each one, and when the battery is low they beep. And they continue to beep until the battery is replaced by one that is adequate - if you just pull the battery out, the mains power keeps the beeping beep beeping.

IKEA
Some kind of dystopian, moronic theme park.

About once every 5 years I have to go and replace the small plates and bowls we use for Olives and nibbles, as you can’t order online.
Each time it feels even more Soulless than before.

Are you sure about that? It didn't use to be, but the vast majority of stuff they sell is now available online for delivery.

However, if you live near a store and you know exactly what you want, the trick is to go through the exit door and straight to the tills - at least that worked for me that last time I needed to visit for yet another Billy bookcase. Otherwise, they route you through every circle of hell to get to your goal.

Mrs Holland reported one of these an hour ago... This would be my job to investigate but I'm 150 miles away until tomorrow evening... :(

The mains powered ones that we had seem to have been discontinued, and we now have a solely battery powered one that fits in the same slot. Seems much more reliable (in as far as - fewer unwanted beeps, we still haven't been set on fire).

Were you watching last Friday's episode of Not Going Out?

The really annoying this is that the battery seems to run out of juice and starts beeping at about 2 or 3 am and wakens me up

We paid a £120 call out charge to our fire alarm company who spent an hour disabling all our alarm sirens because one of the flats in my block had forgotten they had a co2 detector with a dying battery hidden somewhere in their kitchen.
