The 12 beers of Christmas. Boxing Day No.2: Samuel Smith's Winter Welcome (6.0%).

550ml bottle. Gift from the missus and much looked forward to. I was recording a set of Jim Malcolm discs onto my USB drive while I enjoyed this one.

Samuel Smith's has continued to export their beers into the U.S. regardless of COVID and while not "Real Ale in a Bottle", Winter Welcome was a "welcome" change from my usual fare over here.

Pouring a light brown into the glass, a light to medium body gave noticeable malty, biscuity flavours with a smooth nutty, earthy finish. Even though the hop presence came from Fuggles and East Kent Goldings, they were kept well back, allowing the malt to take control.

Simply beautiful!
