A lovely pint of Harvey's best here, but that isn't the point-as one crosses the threshold one goes straight back into 1978, totally unreconstructed and seemingly with the same clientele, just wonderful. I felt as though John Thaw and Dennis Waterman were about to thunder through the doors. No food or any nonsense like that.

I didn't, Neil, but having just registered that that was the pub you posted about last year I certainly will next time. I was toying with the idea of taking a summer holiday there.

If this brought a flash of the 70s to you, Tom, I humbly suggest a trip to The Vine in Brierley Hill (aka the Bull and Bladder) which is the Brewery Tap of the under appreciated Batham's.

When I lasted visited (sadly some years ago when I stopped travelling to that part of the world on business) it has received a CAMRA award for the a refurbishment with minimal change. I hazard a guess the refurbishment involved rotating one of the ash trays 45°
