Thornbridge

I find them one of the perennial benchmarks for quality, accessibility and interest. To drink a couple of their ales between trains at the Sheffield Tap is one of life’s great beer, and railway, pleasures.

Currently enjoying a perfectly conditioned cask Cortado “Flat White Pale Ale” at the Pelt Trader, Cannon Street (another high class boozer adjacent to a train station). I have never previously that I can recall encountered the use of coffee as an adjunct in a pale ale. Unlike with your typical craft coffee stout, they appear have been relatively restrained with the arabica and it proves to work really well with the maltiness and discreet hopping of a classical English pale ale. Some extra body and slight sweetness from lactose in there too. Very nice. 4.9%.

Have been signed up to their monthly subscription box for a while now and got to say it’s brilliant value. £30 for 10 beers (5x2) and most are interesting and tasty. Sometimes includes collaboration beers and some that are exclusive to the subscription.
