Had a good pint of landlord in the Farriers Arms in St Albans on Friday.... this shouldn't be a surprise, as the Farriers was the location for the first ever CAMRA meeting in 1972 - and CAMRA hq is still in the city.
St Albans is a candidate answer to a question posed by one of our number at Wimps the other day - where to get together for some serious cask ale action? I reckon the best all round pub in London at the moment is the Southampton Arms
Been a little while, but I found an example showing impeccable elevage in the Pelt Trader in the City yesterday. Bright, balanced, clean: when it’s ‘on’ it really does hit the spot. Rather like Capt. Anson’s lager in Ice Cold In Alex in fact. Worth waiting for.
