Port with Cheese and Chocolate – Masterclass for festive drinking

A dream night for all you Port lovers! A tasting devoted to this wintery warmer and the chance to taste it alongside some delicious cheeses and some fine sumptuous chocolate too. Delicious!

Port, the  luscious fortified wine has a long history and is closely associated with the British. Port is named after the City of Porto, where the wines are matured. Many of the most famous Port houses of Porto, are still owned and run by British families. The wine starts its life in the UNESCO World Heritage site of the beautiful Douro valley and is produced from a diverse range of Portugal’s indigenous grapes varieties. 

We have all heard about Port and Stilton, but what about Port and other cheeses? and even chocolate? From crumbly, nutty cheddar to soft and salty blues we will match them to different styles of Port. Many people enjoy a tipple of Port (usually a Ruby or LBV) style in the winter, but we want you to taste the full range of flavours that this quintessentially British drink has to offer.

So come and join us this Christmas in Manchester City centre to learn about how, and where, this glorious drink is produced and taste a wide range of beautiful Port wines, that will include some of the following-

  • White Port
  • Tawny
  • 10 year old Tawny
  • Reserve Ruby Port
  • Late Bottled Ruby Vintage
