Join us in Manchester City Centrefor this summer evening wine tasting which forms part of our “Grape Expecations” course. Each month we will look at some of the world’s most famous and loved Red and White grape varieties and taste the diverse selection of varied flavours and styles of wines these grapes produce. Showcasing some of our favourites. In June we will be tasting the Italian classic, Nebbiolo and the most famous (and often misunderstood) variety of all, Chardonnay.
Nebbiolo is one of Italy’s most famous and best loved grape varieties. Its heartland is the tiny Barolo region.
Perhaps the most wonderful thing about Nebbiolo is its intense floral perfume. A Nebbiolo wines can age for years in the in the bottle, where the tannins soften. It’s not all Tar and Roses though and we will taste 3 wines made from Nebbiolo which very in style and character.
Chardonnay, there I said it, the C Word. The most planted white grape variety in the world but how can a single grape offer such a variety of flavours? Well, winemaking and the climate where the grapes grow have everything to do with the answer. We will taste a selection of Chardonnay wines which will showcase how different wine making techniques and different climates, from cool to hot, change the taste of athe wine, and perhaps change your opinion of what a Chardonnay tastes like!
On the night we will taste 6 wines accompanied by full tasting notes and some cheese and ham to nibble on.
Perfect for those who love wine and want to know more. A great gift idea too!
This tasting takes place in the atmospheric Royal Exchange Theatre. We are delighted to offer those booking a 20% off drinks voucher which can be redeemed at The Rivals bar/restaurant.
