Join us in Manchester for a wonderful night of wine from the beautiful Loire and Jura regions of France. On the night we will taste 8 wines, showcasing the best they have to offer.
The Loire- often referred to as the ‘garden of France‘ thanks to its lush, verdant countryside produces elegant, crisp and aromatic whites. Here Sancerre and Pouilly Fume reign as the supreme examples of the Loire’s best known grape variety, Sauvignon Blanc. Whilst Sauvignon Blanc is currently receiving plenty of attention on the global stage, it is often overlooked that the home of this grape variety is right here in North West France. These examples are elegant, herbaceous and zingy with citrus-tinged acidity; a perfect foil to the local rich and creamy goat’s cheese. But moving towards the coast we will uncover the lesser known gems of the region such as the ripe, appley Chenin Blanc from the chalky soils of Anjou. Then on to Nantes for a look at the bone dry, summer classic Muscadet. Get ready to set your taste buds tingling!
But what about Jura I hear you cry? Tucked between Burgundy and the Swiss border, this small area in eastern France is a missing piece of the puzzle for many wine lovers. Sparkling wine is at the heart of production here and the fizz of Jura often rival Champagne in blind tastings. It also boasts its own local grape varieties, with Poulsard, a dry red which is sometimes used to make sparkling rose, the most popular.
We usually taste 6 wines at our evening events but on this night we will treat our guests to 8, and with some really high quality, big price tag wines in the mix too!
Tasting notes and some palate cleansing nibbles also included.
