The Cup and Rings Godello 2013, Galicia, Spain
From a winemaking project between Norrel Robertson MW and Terras do Cigarron in Monterrei, Galicia. The Cup and Rings is an ancient, prehistoric, carved stone design commonly found in Galicia and in Norrel’s original home of Scotland. Fermentation in mainly stainless steel with 20% fermented in old, large French oak barrels. It exhibits a light smokiness and almond note and the the full juiciness and melon rind richness of the Godello, with a lovely squirt of lemony juuciness and salt on the palate, and a layer of stones and minerals over the pithy acids.
