Certo, Garganega 2017
Veneto, Italy, Dry White, Screwcap, 11.5% abv(2018) Like its Merlot partner, a handy 50cl bottle priced at £3.99. Garganega is the grape of Soave, and this comes from the Veneto region too. Pleasingly clean and fresh with a ripe pear succulence and decent acidity, it's a nicely balanced white with a bit of texture and a more or less dry, food-friendly finish. Tabula Rasa, #V17R 2017
South Australia, Australia, Dry Red, Crown Cap, 14.0% abv(2018) From the Thistledown Wines team, a Grenache (well, with around 10% Mourvèdre) that marches to a different beat from it beer-bottle style 50cl container to its crown cap. Inside is a heart-warming an gluggable red, perfumed with violet, raspberry and blackcurrant, and filling the mouth with sweet and easy-going fruit. The perfect barbecue companion.
