Chablis 2013

(2016) Fine, lightly mealy and gently grassy nose, cut with a lovely apple clarity of fruit. Lovely sweetness of fruit on the palate, beautifully poised and fresh with excellent acid grip.
(2016) A little more lemony and fruity, with the palate quite vivacious, bursting with fresh-squeezed citrus juiciness and tang. Less ‘Chablis’ but a lovely wine. Not in UK at time of writing.
(2016) More muted on the nose, with straw notes and tight apple fruit. The palate fresh and straightforward, tangy with plenty of citrus acidity.
(2016) Rich, leesy and full nose, a touch of grapafruit and lots of zestiness. The palate has a wonderfully vivacious fruit character, sparky stuff with zest and salty freshness to spare.
(2016) Ripe, full, vibrant aroma, with a lovely vinous character, citrus and apple, but a touch of leesy character and plenty of juice and tang.
(2016) Not so aromatically vibrant. Striaghtforward, the acidity perhaps a touch too strident, though there is a hint of salty minerals. Dry and very appetising.
(2016) Ripe and generous on the nose, plenty of orange and bright, ripe apple fruit. On the palate juicy and long, a lemony freshness but lovely running water clarity to the salty acidity.
(2016) More leesy, with orchard fruits and a background hint of leafiness. The palate has really good concentration; really distinguished by the intensity of the palate, dry savoury fruit, steely acid and a tightness to the structure.
(2016) Fragrant, fresh, with a touch of river stone minerals and a touch of leesy weight too. The palate has a medium-bodied generosity, some pithy grapefruit and lemon, and a pleasingly fruity yet fresh finish.
(2016) There’s leafiness here too, a touch of something pungent to the fruit, maybe of passion fruit. Balanced and dry on the palate, with citrus and more of that pungent, lightly cabbage quality of good white Burgundy but not fantastically 'Chablis' in style.
(2016) Quite a deep colour to this, a hint of buttercup. From very old vines, lovely concentration, a hint of smokiness, though no oak here. So vibrant and juicy on the palate, painted with a broader brush than some here with less absolute elegance/finesse arguably, but delightful fruit sweetness and concentration, and good acid balance.

Chablis 1er Cru 2013, Left Bank

(2016) Really attractive fresh green herb and leafy quality to this in the background, but lovely stony quality too. The palate has juicy freshness, so much refined lemony freshness, polished edges giving it a silky quality, and a fabulously long finish.
(2016) The most gente hint of crushes oatmeal to otherwise tight apple and stony mineral aromas. The palate a fraction less generous than the Besson Montmains, a little more leanly focused, but once again a lovely length and line to this.
(2016) Ripe, rounded and leesy, this has a really nice freshness and a prettiness, all sorts of delicate nuances here hinting at floral and ripe nectarine, before a really attractive, long finish.
(2016) Almond, toast and a touch of obvious oak, perhaps malolactic too. The palate has that generosity, that lightly nutty touch to the very crisp and zesty fruit, taut and apple freshness and that wonderful saline finish that goes on.
(2016) Back into a very pretty, polished style, with hints of real ripeness, of stone fruits and juiciness, and plenty of flavour and texture on the palate. Juicy and tangy.
(2016) Less striking aromatically, more subdued, with a taut orchard fruit and salt nose, but clean and lean. A real Chablis purists Chablis, all about scything clean fruit, so precise and long, a sweep of apple, citrus and salt into a long finish, but staying so focused and tightly wound.

Chablis 1er Cru 2013, Right Bank

(2016) Lovely open, leesy style with a generous Burgundian nose that is lightly vegetal but very attractive. The palate has beautiful fruit and generosity, with superb mid-palate sweetness, and loads of punchy grapefruit and lemon, into a long, generous sfinish. The acidity and the zestiness of the fruit is so fresh into the finish.
(2016) Taut, green-flecked apple and minerals. The palate not so striking as the Droin Mont de Milieu for example, but has purity and poise, and very good length. A nice dry, pithy bite of minerals and lemon pith. Price is per bottle equivalent, but only available by the case from this stockist.
(2016) Taut, fresh and crisply inviting nose, plenty of buoyant apple fruit and hints of leesy richness. The palate has a big lick of salty minerality, quite striking, long with all that acidity at the core and that super-dry, salty finish.
(2016) Fairly subdued but attractive nose, with plenty of crunch and freshness, plenty of fruit, plenty of Chablis character.
(2016) Lovely richness here, perhaps a touch of oak – certainly some creaminess and nuttiness. The palate has delicious freshness and acid balance, a really stirking lime and lemon acidity and fruit directness. Delicious, fairly easy to approach this one, but such lovely balance too.

Chablis Grand Cru 2012

(2016) From the middle of the Grand Cru and limestone soils with lots of stones. Really striking nose, the earth and stones so prominent on the nose, with some vegetal qualities and also some fleshy passion fruit and yellow plum. The palate has lovely poise and roundness, with fresh acidity and intense creamy length with touches of almond and oatmeal. Tangy orange and lemon gives punch to the finish.
(2016) From a vineyard with a south west and east orientation. Complex sulphide nose, lots of attractive nuance of flint and stones. Ultra-fresh and clean palate, the striking lemon pith dryness and zest so cool, long and intense, real essence of Chablis, with alacrity and energy to spare.
(2016) Wow, what a nose, just bursting with fruit and gentle buttery toast, so attractive, the oaked proportion certainly giving depth and a come-hither charm. The palate suddenly tightens considerably, with a huge bracing grip of tannins and saline, long and very impressive.
(2016) This is really quite quiet and reserved aromatically, the palate riven with a pithy lemon and salt character, veru steely, very Chablis, with a tight uncomprosmising dryness but a wonderfully authoritative certainty about the wines, finishing with huge length.
