01/07/01 – Santa Julia (Argentina) Tempranillo 2000

Santa Julia (Argentina) Tempranillo 2000
Jose Alberto Zuccardi is one of Argentina’s most dynamic wine-making forces at present, with several ranges of wines that span his premium ‘Q’ range, aged in oak, a new ‘Terra Organica’ range of Organic wines, and of course Santa Julia, the bedrock of the range spanning both international and indigenous grape varieties, but each made with the same quality. This has a deep and sumptuous nose that defies at 4.49 price tag, with tobacco, clove and cinammon spice intertwined around rich berry fruit. The palate is packed with sweet, fat cherry and and ripe strawberry fruit that has a dark, fudge-like, warming background of tannins, lowish acidity and a long, fruity finish. Straightforward, very easy to drink, yet undeniably classy red wine at the price. Sainsbury’s 4.49
