07/05/00 – Domaine Lafage (France) Muscat Sec 1999

Domaine Lafage (France) Muscat Sec 1999
Muscat is often made in a sweet style, or sweet and fizzy as in the Moscatos of northern Italy. But this Vin de Pays d’Oc wine from the South of France celebrates its grapy aromatics and fruity flavours, but vinifies these totally dry to give a tangy, refreshing wine. There are orchard fruits on the nose as well as a boiled sweets and a tiny sherbety burst which hints at a gentle petillance. The palate has peachy fruit with a tart gooseberry edge and good acidity. A real garden sipper as we move into summer here in the UK. Safeway 3.99 (05/00)
