Fincas Las Moras (Argentina) Mora Negra 2005
This wine from Finca Las Moras comes from vineyards more than 30 years old, and is a blend of 70% Malbec with 30% Bonarda that is carefully selected for this special cuvee. It has a sumptuous nose, flooded with deep, sweet, cassis and bramble fruit that has a dark chocolate depth backed up with spicy, cedary notes from ageing 15 months in French and American oak. On the palate the ripe fruit powers through, filling the mouth with black fruit sweetness, but then there’s a nice core of dusty, nicely grippy tannins and some cleansing cherry acidity. The depth and gloss of the fruit, and more of that chocolate and spice, builds again on the finish leaving this expansive and mouth-filling, but not without a bit of real elegance and balance too. £12.49, Majestic
