09/04/00 – Deakin Estate (Australia) Shiraz 1999

Deakin Estate (Australia) Shiraz 1999
On the nose it is sumptuous, with dark chocolate, spice and ripe plum notes. Little highlights of pepper and much jammier raspberry fruit give it an edge. On the palate loads of juicy blackcurrant and plum fruit, a slick of vanillin oak and lots of fireworks from pepper, spice, nutmeg and charcoal. Tannins are quite soft, acidity is moderate, so it is a wine for drinking over the next couple of years. A very sensuous wine, superb value for money and, for me, delicious and full of character.
