Bethany (Australia) Riesling 1998
The Clare and Eden valleys are credited with making Australia’s finest dry rieslings, but this bottle from the Barrossa displays much of their quality within its price-bracket. It is not so aromatically complex as some, the nose being dominated by mineral, white fruit and even salty aromas, but limes and spice are in there too. Cool, classy and eleganty fruited on the palate, this is a very crisp style without any of the waxy, petrolly headiness of some rieslings. because of that, it would be very good with a variety of foods. Medium bodied, it has balanced acidity and pretty good length. UK Stockist: Majestic 5.49
