Handmade, Chenin Blanc 2009, South Africa
Edinburgh wine shop owner Richard Meadows has been out to the Cape to help make his own little range of good value wines, including this delicious Chenin Blanc, that has the classic green apple crunch of the grape, but seems to add an extra layer of vivacious, almost tropical fruit. On the palate it has a nicely creamy, rich texture, and although the vivid, forward fruit makes this easy to drink on its own, it has the acidity to match a wide variety of lighter dishes. 6.49, The Great Grog Co (www.greatgrog.co.uk)
