Château Faîteau Minervois La Livinière 2005, France
From the first appellation of the Languedoc to be designated as a separate Cru, a rustic blend (Syrah 70%, Carignan 15%, Grenache 15%) that is just packed with flavour and personality. The nose is rich with bramble jam and dark, reduced plum sauce, and the palate filled with dry, meaty, leathery fruit and tannins, but not without some real fruit sweetness and very good balance. Should age gracefully, but delicious now with wintery casseroles. 9.95, .
