12/03/00 – Domaine des Fontanelles (France) Sauvignon Blanc 1999

Domaine des Fontanelles (France) Sauvignon Blanc 1999
This wine comes from the Vin de Pays d’Oc appellation, a large area in Southern France making some very good value wines, particularly ones like this, where the latest New World technology is used to capture very pure fruit flavours. The colour is a pale green/gold. It has a very fresh nose with a grassy edge and boiled-sweet aromas. Delicate but pure perfume of pear-drops. The palate is just as fresh: it has lots of citrus and gooseberry fruit that really gives an impression of sweetness, but it finishes dry with plenty of crisp, clean-as-a-whistle acidity. A very easy-drinking commercially styled wine, but delicious and refreshing. UK Stockists: Majestic 3.99
